READERS' REVIEWS

The world-building is rich and symbolic, drawing clear parallels to real-world issues without ever feeling heavy-handed. If you're a fan of The Gilded Ones, Midnight Robber, or My Soul to Keep, you’ll be right at home in the Wilds.

This is a well written young adult novel set in a dystopian setting. I enjoy books that show the light of Abrahamic religions. Especially if they're as good as this.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Black-German author Elisabeth Fowler, known for her BIPOC-centered fantasy stories, posing for an author portrait.

I’m Elisabeth Fowler, a novelist and storyteller drawn to the emotional undercurrents that bind us—stories rooted in regional empathy, identity, and the fragile complexities of being human.

I was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and I often find myself returning to the South in my writing—not just as a setting, but as a world unto itself. Its rhythm, contradictions, and layered history have shaped the lens through which I view everything.

Being of both African American and German descent, I write from the in-between spaces—where cultures intersect, collide, and ultimately create something new.

My work explores themes of resilience, connection, and legacy, often through speculative or allegorical narratives. Whether it's a murder mystery with a buried social message or a fantasy set in a world imagined but achingly familiar, I write to challenge silence and stir the soul.

When I’m not lost in my fictional worlds, I love traveling, sewing purses, and uncovering the small, overlooked stories tucked inside everyday life.
